The Stereotype Project Foundation Provides an Update on their Database Project and Secures New Donation

Today, we are excited to share an update on our work to improve the perceptions of cultural and social groups and ultimately drive change in our society.

Our main focus over the recent months has been to get ready to start building the world’s most comprehensive database of stereotypes, which is our key project. This database is the first step in driving change in society by helping to challenge cultural stereotypes. We recently announced that the initial version of the database will focus on the various stereotypes associated with women and will be built in collaboration with a series of academic partners, using a validated scientific methodology. We have made great progress and will be able to share more exciting news on this very soon.

We are also thrilled that the Blackstone Charitable Foundation has become the latest organization to support us in our efforts. Founded in 2007, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation is committed to creating economic opportunity for under-resources communities. The Foundation drives community engagement, provides disaster relief and guides employees in board service placement.

Speaking about this donation, our Co-Founder and Chairman, Gian Franco explained, “This donation will enable us to continue our work to achieve the foundation’s mission. We want to challenge cultural stereotypes and improve the perceptions of various cultural and social groups around the world by highlighting the biased representations we see in the media and addressing the gaps in understanding that exist. Without generous supporters like the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, we would not be able to build this database and continue in our fight against the biased representation of groups in society.”

Jack Pitts, Partner at Blackstone and member of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation Leadership Council added, “Our focus on diversity stems from a belief that diverse teams make stronger companies. We are committed to attracting, developing and advancing a diverse workforce that represents a spectrum of backgrounds, identities and experiences, along with giving back to the communities in which we live and work. We are excited to partner with TSPF to help advance their important work.”
